Tamil Nadu State Govt. Planning to Support Maize Cultivation in 18 District

The Tamil Nadu State government plans to boost maize cultivation in 18 districts with a special scheme costing ₹30 crore. A kit containing high-quality maize seeds, natural and liquid fertilizers, and urea will be provided to 50,000 farmers to expand maize cultivation by 50,000 hectares. According to the Agriculture Department's 2024-25 action plan, the State aims to increase millet cultivation to 9.95 lakh hectares, targeting a production of 39.09 lakh metric tonnes, up from 31.31 lakh metric tonnes two years ago.
