May 2024 Guar Gum Exports: Decline from April but Strong Annual Performance

In May 2024, exports of guar gum saw a moderate decline of 5% from the previous month, amounting to 22,084 tonnes at an average FOB price of US $1280 per tonne. This contrasts with April 2024, which recorded exports of 23,264 tonnes at an average FOB price of US $1378 per tonne.

Despite the monthly decline, May 2024 marked a significant annual increase of 43% compared to May 2023, when exports totaled 15,433 tonnes. From October 2023 to May 2024, there was a cumulative 10% rise in guar gum exports compared to the corresponding period the previous year.

Key importing nations in May 2024 included the USA, Russia, Germany, and China. The USA led imports with 4,463 tonnes, constituting 20% of the total imports for the month. Russia followed with 3,313 tonnes (15% of imports), Germany imported 2,683 tonnes (12% of total imports), and China contributed 1,909 tonnes (9% of imports).
