According to the latest report from the Department of Agriculture, as of July 24, 2024, the area sown with guar in Rajasthan stands at 20.38 lakh hectares, marking a 3% decrease from the same period last year when it was 21.01 lakh hectares. This year’s sowing is also significantly below the 5-year average of 27.59 lakh hectares. As per IMD, the major guar growing regions of Rajasthan like Bikaner and Jaisalmer are receiving good rainfall, hence prompting the sowing of profitable competitive crops like bajra and moong in the region.
