Last week, rainfall favored many parts of Brazil, with the heaviest amounts in the northern and far southern regions. South-central areas also received some rain. The forecast predicts drier weather across much of central Brazil, with rainfall limited to the far southern regions. Temperatures are expected to be above normal, which could lead to potential moisture stress again in south-central Brazil. Some damage to the safrinha corn has already occurred due to extended dry weather in western and northern Parana and southern Mato Grosso do Sul. The forecast indicates dryer conditions ahead with warming temperatures. Additional rainfall will be necessary, especially for the late-planted safrinha corn.
