Paddy procurement by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) is lower than the previous season because of higher paddy prices, leading farmers to sell their produce to private traders. However, this lower procurement of paddy is not expected to cause trouble for the government in terms of maintaining buffer stocks and intervening in the market if needed.
