According to the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange, upcoming rains in northern Argentina will facilitate the wheat sowing process for the 2024/25 season. The exchange noted that dryness in the northern and eastern regions, along with delays in harvesting corn and soy crops, had disrupted planting activities. Despite these challenges, the exchange has increased its forecast for this season's wheat sowing. Higher wheat prices and lower input costs are motivating more farmers to plant wheat. The planting area is now projected at 6.3 million hectares (15.6 million acres), slightly up from the previous estimate of 6.2 million hectares, as more farmers in the central and southern agricultural regions commence planting. Currently, 65.5% of the wheat planting for the 2024/25 crop is complete, a 19.2 percentage point increase from the previous week. In the north and center-east regions, 10 to 25 millimeters (0.4 to 1 inch) of rain are expected in the coming days, potentially improving planting conditions.
