According to preliminary data from the APK-Inform Agency, Ukraine exported over 4.4 million tonnes of sunflower oil from September to April of the 2023/24 marketing year, marking a 17% increase compared to the same period last year. This export volume ranks as the second-highest in the country's history, following the figures recorded in the 2019/20 marketing year (4.49 million tonnes from September to April). Analysts attribute the steady sea shipments of sunflower oil as a significant contributing factor to this trend.

APK-Inform experts have revised their forecast for sunflower oil exports for the 2023/24 season to 5.6 million tonnes, representing a 4% increase up to April, but a 1% decrease compared to the previous season (2022/23 MY). However, with approximately 79% of the forecast already exported, it is anticipated that monthly shipment volumes will decline notably towards the end of the season.

The expected decrease in sunflower oil exports from May to August of the current season may be attributed to reduced sunflower crushing activity due to diminishing stocks. APK-Inform estimates that as of the beginning of May, sunflower oil stocks in the country were at their lowest level in the past three seasons.
