A meeting of the Committee of Ministers was held today, chaired by the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, to review the prices of essential commodities.

The committee engaged in a detailed discussion on the status of wheat stocks and prices. As of June 18, 2024, approximately 266 LMT of wheat has been procured in the RMS 2024, compared to 262 LMT in RMS 2023. After accounting for the requirement of 184 LMT for the Public Distribution System (PDS) and other welfare schemes, a sufficient wheat stock remains available for market interventions as needed.

The Union Minister emphasized the importance of closely monitoring wheat prices and implementing appropriate policy measures to ensure price stability for consumers nationwide.
