As per latest update by IGC, the global production forecast for total grains (including wheat and coarse grains) in 2024/25 has been increased by 8 million tons compared to the previous month, reaching 2,321 million tons, which is a 1% increase year-on-year. This adjustment takes into account the latest acreage estimates and improved yield prospects in certain countries. Specifically, the outlooks for wheat in North America, Pakistan, and Kazakhstan, as well as maize in the US, have been revised upwards. Despite smaller opening inventories and a slight rise in projected demand, the carryover stocks (aggregated over their respective local marketing years) are now expected to be 586 million tons, up by 4 million tons from June.
