State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) plan to purchase over 300 crore liters of ethanol from new biofuel plants across eight states and two union territories. The OMCs Ethanol Procurement Group (OEPG) has called for bids to establish long-term off-take agreements with upcoming Dedicated Ethanol Plants (DEP) located in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa, Odisha, and the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The OEPG has implemented a marking system that prioritizes corn/maize as the primary feedstock for ethanol manufacturing. The highest preference are awarded to the utilization of corn/maize or tapioca, followed by a blend of rice and corn/maize, and finally sugarcane-based feedstock.
