According to the official data, import of three major Pulses including Tur, Urad & Lentil in India decreased by 29% at 5,16,223 tonnes during the first three month (January-March, 2024) of the current Calendar Year from 7,24,883 tonnes in same time last Calendar year due to global supply tightness amidst expected hoarding on expectations of India’s increasing import demand. Notably, some cases were witnessed during recent past when Burmese Govt. had warned the local market participants not to indulge in creating artificial rise in Tur & Urad prices.
