According to a recent release from Australia's Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), La Niña conditions are expected to develop by October due to the slowing rate and extent of sea temperature cooling at both the surface and depth since June. This cold event notably causes heavy rainfall and floods, particularly in Asia and India. The agency has made it clear that the majority of its climate models suggest the possibility of sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the central Pacific Ocean reaching the La Niña threshold (below −0.8 °C) only by October. Earlier, most of the concerned agencies had hinted that it might emerge around July.
