The government has procured 18.88 lakh tonnes of mustard for the current marketing year from major states such as Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. Including previously acquired stocks, the government now holds a total of 26.38 lakh tonnes, with an additional 7-8 lakh tonnes held by stockists. HAFED has started disposing of these stocks, with the disposal figures and dates provided as follows:

The modest quantity of mustard disposal by HAFED is likely to have a supportive impact on mustard prices. By gradually releasing stocks into the market, the government can prevent an oversupply situation, which would otherwise lead to a decline in prices. Consequently, this controlled release helps maintain price stability and supports higher mustard prices.
