According to the latest report from the Food Corporation of India (FCI), approximately 262.28 LMT of wheat has been procured as of May 22, 2024, maintaining a pace similar to the previous year. Punjab leads the procurement with 124.34 LMT, followed by Haryana with 71.50 LMT. Currently, around 85% of the total target has been achieved. However, the overall procurement is expected to range between 270-280 LMT, as the process is slowing due to farmers holding back stocks in anticipation of better prices.
