On February 28, 2024, the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, hosted a meeting of State Food Secretaries. The aim was to discuss procurement arrangements for Rabi Crops in the Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2024-25 and the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2023-24. Chaired by the Secretary of DFPD, the meeting examined various factors influencing procurement, including weather forecasts, production estimates, and state readiness. Following deliberations, wheat procurement for the forthcoming RMS 2024-25 set between 300-320 LMT. Similarly, for paddy procurement, during the KMS 2023-24 (Rabi Crop), established within the range of 90-100 LMT.
