According to Indian Sugar & Bio-energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA), a total of 302.02 LT sugar has been produced till 31st Mar’24 this year compared to 300.7 LT in the same period last year. A total of 210 sugar mills are currently operational against 187 mills during the same period last year.

As of 31st Mar,’24, a total of 140 sugar mills have closed their crushing season in Maharashtra compared to 200 mills during the same period last year. A total of 107 LT of sugar has been produced in Maharashtra higher against 105 LT during last year so far. In Uttar Pradesh, the sugar production has reached 97.2 LT till 31st Mar’24 whereas only 89 LT of sugar was produced in the previous year. In Karnataka, a total of 49.5LT of sugar has been produced against 54.9 LT of sugar during the same period last year.
