India's 2024-25 rapeseed mustard supply has reached a record high of 12.94 million metric tons (MMT), driven by an impressive production of 11.66 MMT and an additional 1.28 MMT carry in stock. This increase is due to increased acreage in key growing states and favorable weather conditions. Despite this bumper production, recent months have seen low supply in mandis as farmers hold out for better prices and divert their produce towards government procurement.

𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅
Rapeseed mustard prices in Jaipur (42 condition) have surged to a six-month high, nearing ₹6,000 per metric ton (MT), buoyed by stronger prices for rapeseed meal and oil, as well as positive global market trends. Over the past month, rapeseed meal prices have surged by 11%, and they have risen by 8% over the last three months, even though rapeseed meal exports have declined recently. Similarly, rapeseed oil prices have also seen an upward trend, increasing by 9% in the last month and 10% over the last three months.

𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗢𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Currently, the import duty on crude palm oil (CPO), crude soybean oil, and crude sunflower oil stands at 5.5%. There is speculation that the government may raise these duties after the elections, which would drive up edible oil prices and consequently support higher oilseed prices.

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Given the current market dynamics, with prices facing strong resistance at ₹6,000 per quintal, it may be prudent for traders to consider offloading 70-80% of their holdings.
